Amber warning of extreme heat
The Met Office has issued a weather warning of extreme heat for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. This means that population-wide adverse health effects are likely to be experienced and that precautions are required.
The school’s sports day, planned for Monday, clearly cannot proceed. Therefore, I have decided to bring the event forward to tomorrow so that children can receive all of the enjoyment without the associated risk. Of course, it remains very warm and it is essential that your child:
- Wears their PE kit to school
- Brings plenty of drinking water
- Wears a hat for head protection
- Uses sun protection lotion
- Seeks out shade, when appropriate
All other school events will continue as planned next week however the environment inside the school building will become increasingly unpleasant. I encourage all children to continue to wear their PE kit to school and would be grateful if you could emphasise the importance of the control measures outlined above. We will seek to do all we can to make the final few days of the term as fun and enjoyable as possible.
