Human Papillomavirus (HPV) First Dose, Year 8

On the 1st July, the school nursing team will be administering the first dose of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) immunisation to all pupils in Year 8. They will also vaccinate Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11 girls, who have not had their second dose of the vaccination.

Parents and carers of Year 8 pupils have been asked to complete this e-consent form as soon as possible:

The vaccine helps to protect a person from being infected by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). This virus increases the risk of developing some cancers later in life, such as cervical cancers, some mouth and throat cancers and some cancers of the genital area. Information about the virus and immunisation programme can be found here:

Please see the below information from the School Nursing Immunisation Team.

You must inform the School Nursing Immunisation Team on the contact details provided below, if any of the following apply:

  • If your child has received their second dose of the HPV vaccine at the GP practice or another health setting;
  • If your child has received their first vaccination at the GP practice, or another health setting, and you would like your child to receive the second dose in school as we will need to obtain your consent;
  • If your child has not had the first dose of the HPV vaccinate and you would now like them to receive the vaccine. First doses will be offered later in the year and you will be given opportunity to consent at this point. Year 8 pupils will also be offered the first dose of the HPV course at this time.
