Human Papillomavirus (HPV) First Dose, Year 8
On the 1st July, the school nursing team will be administering the first dose of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) immunisation to all pupils in Year 8. They will also vaccinate Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11 girls, who have not had their second dose of the vaccination.
Parents and carers of Year 8 pupils have been asked to complete this e-consent form as soon as possible: https://forms.office.com/r/M8zCW46n4e
The vaccine helps to protect a person from being infected by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). This virus increases the risk of developing some cancers later in life, such as cervical cancers, some mouth and throat cancers and some cancers of the genital area. Information about the virus and immunisation programme can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/human-papilloma-virus-hpv/
Please see the below information from the School Nursing Immunisation Team.
