Year 6 Transition Update

The transition from primary to secondary education is as exciting as it is daunting. This year, we can’t welcome you into our school as much as we’d like. But don’t worry – there are still plenty of ways we can introduce you to #TeamTeilo.

Transition visits – Important update

We had planned visits to St Teilo’s for all Year 6 children during the summer term. Since that time, the local authority have strengthened their advice meaning that children may have to choose between visiting St Teilo’s or returning to their existing school.

We do not think that is a fair choice. Year 6 deserve both a meaningful departure from their current school and an effective introduction to St Teilo’s. Therefore, we are postponing transition visits until after 17 July 2020. This means that children in Year 6 can return to school to say goodbye to their friends.

The Headteacher, Mr Loynd, will write to parents and carers at their home address with details of the new transition arrangements.

Video message from staff

There will be a short delay before your transition can begin to allow you to return to your school to say goodbye to your friends. So, in the meantime, why not watch a short film from key staff at St Teilo’s by clicking here.

#TeamTeilo gift bag

Your #TeamTeilo gift bag is ready for you. In it, you will find a booklet full of information about St Teilo’s to read with your family. There will be some activities for you to complete and a chance for you to submit questions to the Headteacher. There will also be a competition to enter with £50 prizes! We’ll be delivering your #TeamTeilo bag to your home in the next few weeks.

Parents and carers will also have some important paperwork to complete and return to the school in the pre-paid envelope. We’d be grateful to receive this as soon as possible.

COVID-19

We know that lots of people are worried about coming to school during this public health emergency. Please be reassured, St Teilo’s has very good systems in place to keep children safe. To find our more, you can visit our school reopening page by clicking here.
