Form group changes

Form Groups in Year 7 (to begin Year 8 in September 2026) have changed. This is because the latest progress data shows quite a significant imbalance in the range of abilities within and between classes. As far as possible, the school seeks to keep classes 'balanced' so that children have the best possible learning experience. Classes which balance gender, ability and need tend to be calmer, more focused and more likely to make progress in learning.

In making these necessary changes, the school has sought the views of a range of staff who know the year group well. Friendship groups have been maintained as far as possible. Likewise, where it is advantageous to keep children apart, this has been achieved.

New class lists were shared with children at the end of term. Should they have any concerns or questions about their new form group during the summer break, please do contact us. Whilst we cannot guarantee changes, we will always seek to work with families to get things right for children.
